Holy Saturday, celebrated on the 19th of April 2025, marks a sacred pause in the Christian liturgical calendar—a day of quiet reflection and anticipation as the Church awaits the joy of the Resurrection. It is the final day of the Easter Triduum, bridging the sorrow of Good Friday and the triumph of Easter Sunday.

At St. Bernard Seminary Hostel, the Easter Vigil was celebrated with profound reverence and spiritual depth. The chief celebrant, Rev. Fr. John Okechukwu, led the liturgy alongside co-celebrants Rev. Fr. Collins Ozani and Rev. Fr. Michael Ikechukwu Ngwu. The celebration began in darkness, symbolizing the world's state before Christ, and was gradually illuminated by the Paschal candle, representing the light of the risen Christ.

The liturgy featured the blessing of the fire, the Exsultet (Easter Proclamation), an extended Liturgy of the Word, the renewal of baptismal promises, and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Holy Saturday reminds Christians that through Christ’s descent into the tomb, death has been conquered, and new life is offered to all.
